The avatar of Chaos that exists only to do his god's bidding, bringing terror and destruction to mankind. He's always searching for the demon sword Alhazard to complete his mission.

He's the mastermind behind Digos raid on Baldea with the aim of breaking Langrisser's seal to release evil again on the world. Aided by his subordinates Nicolis and Nagya he leads the heroes to Velzeria. He eventually manages to resurrect Chaos but both him and his master are defeated.

He appears as the dark lord who tempts Kaiser Bernhardt with the power of Alhazard. He is the enemy of all who walk the path of light and wishes the revival and freedom of the race of monsters and especially his lord Chaos.

If the player achieves the good ending, it's revealed that Chaos revived Paul to be his new Böser. The new Boser wanting revenge, then kidnaps Diehärte's love interest to sacrifice her to resurrect his god. Joined by Altemüller and Varna, Diehärte's group manages to stop him and save the girl.

He returns in Langrisser IV under the pseudonym “The Dark Mage Faelart.” He uses the conflict between the Federation and Caconsis Kingdom in Yeless to push the continent into total war. He is ultimately slain by Landius, but before dying sends Alhazard flying to an unknown location.

His death at the hands of Landius is shown again

He returns in Langrisser Mobile under the pseudonym “The Sorceror Gambino.”

• As Böser, Paul fails to bring the world to ruin. Ironically, it's Bernhardt who destroys his dreams rather than the Descendants of Light. His flesh is absorbed into Alhazard and Darkness temporarily vanishes from the world.
